Terina Nicole, better known as Meca McKinney, has created an affordable, expressive and well made accessory line for all of us edgy eco friendly folk. Jypsea is like handcrafted heaven. The line is packed with leather, snake skin and furs all made from discarded goods like coats, jackets and shawls. The pieces that she dishes out are one of a kind and sure to please.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Meca McKinney had a front row seat in front of her mother’s sewing machine. Coming from a long line of creative women, Meca was destined to let her creative juices flow. Graduating Cum Laude from the Fashion Institute of Technology it was only right for her to start tackling the fashion world immediately. She held positions as a pattern maker, color assistant and handbag designer. All of these positions and the natural law of creativity set the path for Meca’s career today.

In 2008 Meca along with her mother and two brothers opened Down To Earth Boutique and Art Gallery in Suffolk, VA. The team gathered 30 artist and designers from around the country to sell their one of a kind art and clothing. Because of the massive amount of contacts gained she created a blog called Lifestyle of the Authentic and Creative as a way of reporting on global innovations in the creative sphere. Her mission was to inspire people to create and pursue their talents.

Meca’s designs can be seen in Upscale Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, and Trace Magazine. You can find people like Res, Imani Copolla and Judith Jameson rocking Jypsea and wearing it well.

Meca is a proud parent is currently working on her first book which teaches the step to developing a fashion line. Her new line Eco-Luxe Deluxe was launched today, October 12, 2010
